1965 Volvo 1800 S. A pleasant car for people who want to travel quickly and comfortably.

The Volvo 1800 S features a beautifully finished interior, tastefully and functionally designed. The comfortable seats, with numerous adjustment options for an individually tailored driving position, are upholstered in high-quality leather. The remaining trim is finished in grained synthetic leather. Fabric mats cover the floor and the driveshaft tunnel.

The controls are well shaped and logically positioned. The dashboard contains a comprehensive array of instruments that are easy to read at a glance.

The Volvo 1800 S is very spacious. In addition to the two front seats, there is an extra seat suitable for children or even for two adults on a short journey. The luggage compartment is generous. Moreover, the backrest of the additional rear seat can be folded down and used as a flat load surface for luggage.

The thermostatically controlled heating and defroster system has exceptional capacity. The powerful fan can be set to two speeds.

Passenger safety has also been carefully considered. Padded sun visors, a quilted dashboard, and a laminated windshield are just some of the many safety features. Factory-installed three-point seat belts complete the safety equipment.

The spirited 115 SAE hp B18 engine responds instantly to even the slightest touch of the accelerator. Because its high torque is delivered across a broad rev range, there is no need to downshift for even the smallest incline. One can drive slowly and smoothly in busy city traffic, while on open roads the car offers rapid overtaking ability and a high cruising speed.

The gearbox—four forward gears plus overdrive—is fully synchronized. The short, solid gear lever has clearly defined positions. The overdrive reduces engine speed while maintaining road speed, resulting in less engine noise and lower fuel consumption.

Servo-assisted disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear provide strong braking performance, even at high speeds where frequent braking may be required.

As an additional safety feature, a pressure-reducing valve is fitted in the brake line to the rear wheels. This ensures optimal distribution of braking force between the front and rear wheels, in accordance with weight transfer during braking.

The Volvo 1800 S requires no regular chassis lubrication.

The robust, well-built body has undergone an effective anti-corrosion treatment designed for long-lasting protection. The paintwork—after phosphating and priming, followed by five additional coats—has a hard, glossy finish that retains its shine in all weather conditions.

Its road holding is in a class of its own, ensuring safe and comfortable driving on all types of roads. The belted tires are designed for sustained high-speed driving and contribute to the car’s excellent stability and handling.
