Founded in 1954 as Ha Dong-hwan Motor Workshop, SsangYong is Korea's oldest automotive brand and began by producing military vehicles. It evolved through names like Dong-A Motor and, in 1988, became SsangYong Motor. Known for SUVs like the Korando and Rexton, it partnered with Mercedes-Benz in the 1990s. After ownership changes, KG Group acquired it in 2022, rebranding as KG Mobility (KGM) in 2023, focusing on electric and connected vehicles.
