Drawing on its high-speed track testing, Mitsubishi carefully planned the 3000GT's cockpit to reduce the gap between thinking and acting. Enter the 3000G1, close the door, and you feel as if the car has wrapped itself around you. Like the body itself, the bucket seats are very low to the ground for sportier driving. The heart of the 3000GT is its raw power. The V6 3.0-litre DOHC 24-valve twin turbocharged, twin intercooled engine is quiet, efficient, technically sophisticated-and extremely potent. Plus, the 5-speed manual transmission is finely tuned to best channel the engine's power. Smooth operation and the engine's sheer strength to smoothly propel the 3000GT from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds makes driving the 3000GT unforgettable.

The potent 3.0-litre V6 DOH 24-valve engine powers the 3000GT to a top test track speed of 250km/h. A compact, heavily reinforced iron block with ribbed exterior walls assures maximum strength and durability.

The 3000GT's broad and flat torque curve reflects the outstanding power of its V6 engine, which produces 210kW (285.5PS) at 6000rpm.

Compact pentroof combustion chambers with a centre-mounted spark plug help maximise engine efficiency by enhancing turbulence, while needle-bearing roller rocker arms reduce friction and noise.

Dual spray caps in the electronically-controlled multi-point fuel injection system inject the fuel directly into the intake ports for more efficient operation.

Compact, fast-response twin turbochargers and high-efficiency twin intercoolers boost the power output for rapid acceleration, and minimise turbo lag for instant throttle response.

Dual damped Macpherson struts in the independent front suspension are reinforced with twin cross members to minimise noise and shock for a smooth ride and superb overall handling.

The independent rear suspension combines the comfort of trailing arms with the superior roadholding of double wishbones to provide maximum stability and roadholding.

Torque distribution to the front and rear wheels in the full-time 4WD system is perfectly balanced by a viscous-coupled centre differential with a 45/55 torque split. The result is superb tyre grip and cornering power.

Large ventilated disc brakes with opposed 4-piston calipers in the front and 2-piston calipers in the rear deliver fast, sure braking power, while the brake piston diameters are staggered for even pad wear.

The 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (4ABS) employs a 2-channel, 4-sensor configuration to assure lock-free braking power with steerability and control. even in poor weather conditions.

A high-mount brake lamp is incorporated into the rear spoiler to ensure that the 3000GT is highly visible when braking.

A double throttle retur spring increases safety by ensuring that the throttle valve closes, and also provides a better pedal feel for safer, smoother deceleration.

SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) airbags are standard equipment for both the driver's and passenger's sides. They deploy automatically in the event of a collision to protect the occupants from impact. For greater safety. they should always be used in combination with seatbelts.

Side door impact bars made of lightweight high-tensile steel enhance safety by providing maximum protection to the occupants in the event of a side collision.

To increase safety, high-tensile steel is used extensively throughout the 3000GT. and deformable zones built into the frame are designed to absorb collision impact.
