The Lada Saloon.

For a new car, the Lada looks and sounds strangely familiar. From it's no-nonsense, clean lines to its pedigree 1,198 cc engine, capable of up to 90 mph. And since this is a speed one is rarely allowed to reach, the Lada is never strained. It's also surprisingly gentle with petrol pumps. Inside and out, there's very little about the Lada that you don't already know. The only thing that will surprise you is the price. strangely familiar. From it's no-nonsense, clean lines to its pedigree 1,198 cc engine, capable of up to 90 mph. It's much less than you'd expect. You don't meet many cars like that nowadays.

The Lada Estate.

We suggest you don't get in a Lada Estate on your own. It gets lonely in all that wide open space. So pack in the whole family. And all the luggage. And if you have a family dog, bring it along. The Lada Estate can shoulder 950 lbs of anything. Its heavy duty rear suspension won't let you down. Of course, it only looks big from the inside. Surprisingly, it's actually 9/10" shorter than the saloon.

Simplicity-the secret of Lada reliability.

From the powerful 62 bhp engine to the oversized boot, the Lada 1200 mocks the overcomplication of so many of todays cars. It can be relied upon, whether on a motorway or farm track Problem free motoring is assured through the exceptionally sturdy suspension; the knuckle joints of the wheel suspension and steenng (especially protected against dust and mud); strong fixing points and shock absorbers and unusually high ground clearance. The braking system is the twin circuit type, with discs in front and alloy drums at the rear The rear brakes operate through an automatic regulator, ensunng maximum efficiency and safety at all imes. It delivers 62 hp at 5600 rpm. Powerful enough to push anyone back into their seats, but also economical and durable. Don't be surprised if the engine never gives you trouble. It was designed that way.

Compound Choke Carburettor. Designed to give you economy performance. Which is another way of saying good mileage, with power to spare.

Overhead Cam Shaft. This is one of the better methods of operating the valve gear in an engine. It makes sure you use every single one of the 62 brake horsepower as efficiently as possible.

Air Filter. The long snout on the air filter makes sure your engine breathes the clean air youre driving into, not the dust you might be dniving over.

Cooling System. The Lada has a closed system of cooling coupled to a semitransparent expansion reservoir You can check your radiator water level at a glance.

A fifth door.

All at a 'four-door price. From the back, the Lada Estate looks huge. Fill it up, and it looks like you can pack in just 'about everything including the kitchen sink.
