The 1973 De Tomaso Pantera L.

In cars, as in life, the simplest ideas are often the most exciting. Witness the new Pantera L by Ghia.

An aerodynamically sculptured body, with welded monocoque construction. The best of Ghia.

But the engine is pure American: the thoroughbred 351-4V Ford "Cleveland" V-8. One of the most highly regarded engines in its class.

Put them together, and you have something unique for the most avid driving enthusiast.

An excellent example of fine Italian automotive engineering and design. With an engine that American mechanics know and respect.

Therein, lies the concept of the Pantera L.

Italian design with American power: the best of both possible worlds.

And easily the most exciting.

The Pantera L stands just over 44 inches high. Monocoque construction fuses the taut steel skin and frame into one strong, rigid welded structure.

The new impact-absorbing bumpers meet Federal require-ments, but complement the overall styling. Independent suspension and power-boosted disc brakes at all four corners, front and rear antisway bars, rack-and-pinion quick-ratio steering, all contribute to outstanding maneuverability.

The wheels are 15-inch die-cast magnesium to keep unsprung weight low. They carry high performance tires.

Concealed headlamps raise into position electrically. Reflecting Ghia's 50 years of design of the highest order, the body has been shaped, then hand-finished, through virtually every step of construction. The engine, a triumph of lightweight casting and free-breathing canted valve design, is placed midship, ahead of the rear axle and five-speed ZF transaxle.

Inside the Pantera L, it is air-conditioned, affording luxurious comfort. There are power windows and full instrumentation. And the seats have been redesigned for greater comfort, too.
